About timesheet calculations
When a worker submits a timesheet in Beeline Professional, the system calculates the total amount due based on the rates, fees, and taxes configured on their engagement. Understanding how these calculations work can help you review and approve timesheets with confidence.
For information on how different timesheet amounts are rounded, see About rounding.
How rates are set on engagements
The bill rate on a worker’s engagement determines the baseline for all timesheet calculations. Rate and fee structures are defined in Settings first, then applied and configured at the engagement level. Depending on how your program is configured, rates may be set manually by your Program Office Administrator (PMO) or defaulted automatically based on your organization’s business rules during the onboarding process.
Some engagements also include a rate card, which can store a rate range, fees, and taxes to support budget projections during the sourcing process. Rate cards are optional, not all engagements will have one, but when present, they provide additional financial guardrails for your program.
Rate types
Beeline Professional supports three rate types. The rate type on a worker’s engagement determines how their submitted time is calculated and what you see when approving a timesheet.
-
Hourly: The worker is billed at a fixed rate per hour worked. This is the most common rate type. For more information, see Timesheet calculations: hourly rate workers.
-
Daily: The worker is billed at a fixed rate per day worked. Daily rate workers can enter time in hours or units of work representing a portion of a workday. For more information, see Timesheet calculations: daily rate workers.
-
Monthly: The worker is billed at a fixed monthly rate, regardless of the number of days worked in a given month. Worked hours are still entered on timesheets and are used to calculate any adjustments to the monthly amount. For more information, see Timesheet calculations: monthly rate workers.
Fees and taxes
Depending on your tenant’s configuration, fees and taxes may also apply to a worker’s timesheet. In Professional, fees and taxes are configured at the engagement level and are calculated at the time a worker submits their timesheet so the total you see when approving already reflects any applicable fees and taxes.
For more information, see Configuring fees on engagements and Configuring taxes on engagements.
