Configuring field metadata constraints

Field metadata constraints enable you to control available field values dynamically based on related field selections, improving data accuracy and consistency across the application. This feature allows you define one-way relationships where the values of one field determine the allowed values of another.

This procedure describes how to create and manage field metadata constraints using the application UI, including both manual configuration and bulk data import options.

Before you begin

  • You must have administrator access to Professional.

Steps

To apply field metadata constraints, complete the following steps from any supported browser:

  1. Log in to Professional.

  2. From the left navigation menu, go to Setting  Field Metadata Constraints.

  3. In the upper-right corner, select the Create New Field Constraint button (+).

  4. In the Create New Field Constraint window, select the resource type and configure the field constraints.

  5. Select Create.

  6. Perform one of the following actions:

    • To add a small amount of data, select values for the constraining field from the drop-down in the first row, then add the associated values for the constrained field under each column.

    • To add a large amount of data, select Export in the upper-right corner, populate the exported template locally, and then import the data by selecting Import on the same page.

  7. Select Save.

After you save your changes, the selected resource type, that is, engagement, work request, and job posting smart forms reflect the configured constraints.
